Assistant District Attorney Norfolk District Attorney’s Office 45 Shawmut Road Canton, MA 02021 Dear Attorney Hunt: I have received the petition of Kevyn Reddington appealing the response of the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office (Office) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On October 17, 2024, Mr. Reddington stated, “I’ve been made aware that District Attorney Morrissey is utilizing [an identified email account] in their official duties. I am requesting a copy of all emails to and from any court official/employee that have been made with the above referenced email. . .” On November 4, 2024, the Office acknowledged the request and stated “…[y]our request is actively being worked on and [we] anticipate providing a response by Friday, November 15…” On November 15, 2024, the Office indicated, “[u]nfortunately, [we] won’t be able to meet today’s deadline…” Unsatisfied with the Office’s responses, Mr. Reddington petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR24/3101, was opened as a result. Subsequent to the opening of the appeal, I learned that the Office intends to provide Mr. Reddington with a further response. Accordingly, said response must be provided in a manner consistent with the Public Records Law and its Regulations within ten business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. If issues remain unresolved, Mr. Reddington may appeal the substantive nature of the Office’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
