The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records December 20, 2024 SPR24/3354 Michele Heffernan, Esq. General Counsel Human Resources Division 100 Cambridge Street, Suite 600 Boston, MA 02114 Dear Attorney Heffernan: I have received the petition of Colin X (“requestor”) appealing the response of the Human Resources Division (Division) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On November 18, 2024, the requestor requested six categories of records “related to the changes made to the police promotional exam following the 29022 Tatum v. Commonwealth case, and information regarding the 2023 and 2024 police promotional exam.” The Division responded on December 6, 2024. Unsatisfied with the Division’s response, the requestor petitioned this office, and this appeal, SPR24/3354, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Division provided a further response on December 20, 2024. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the Division’s December 6th response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. The requestor may appeal the substantive nature of the Division’s December 20th response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Colin X One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832 • Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
