The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records March 5, 2025 SPR25/0521 Ben Kaufman Town Clerk Town of Brookline Brookline Town Hall 333 Washington Street, Room 104 Brookline, MA 02445 Dear Mr. Kaufman: I have received the petition of Craig Haller appealing the nonresponse of the Town of Brookline (Town) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On February 5, 2025, Mr. Haller requested “…data from the Town’s ‘checkbook’ as the data is not available on the Open Gov website. I would like information on all checks produced from January 1, 2024 to the day the data is collected (i.e. the date of this request and hopefully additionally any produced checks up until this request is fulfilled) and it needs to include the Check Number, Check Date, Vendor, FY, Category, and Amount.” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Haller petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR25/0521, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Town provided Mr. Haller with a response on February 24, 2025. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the Town’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Haller may appeal the substantive nature of the Town’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Craig Haller One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832 • Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
