The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records March 07, 2025 SPR25/0552 Courtney M. Madden, Esq. Senior Advisor & Counsel Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office 200 West Street P. O. Box 149 Dedham, MA 02027 Dear Attorney Madden: I have received the petition of Lance Reynolds, of the Boston Herald, appealing the response of the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office (Office) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § l0A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On January 24, 2025, Mr. Reynolds requested “... any and all communications sent to and from U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement regarding [an identified individual] between April 2023 and October 2023, when ERO Boston says the Norfolk County House of Corrections failed to honor its detainer request.” The Office provided a response to Mr. Reynolds on February 6, 2025. Unsatisfied with the response, Mr. Reynolds petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR25/0552, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Office sent a further response to Mr. Reynolds on March 4, 2025. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the Office’s February 6, 2025 response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Reynolds may appeal the substantive nature of the Office’s March 6th response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Lance Reynolds One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
