G. L. c. 66, § 10(c); G. L. c. 66, § 10(d)(iv); see also 950 C.M.R. 32.06(4). As required by law, it is my understanding that the City furnished a copy of the petition to the requestor, Alessandra Carlton. G. L. c. 66, § 10(c); G. L. c. 66, § 10(d)(iv)(2). On March 3, 2025, Ms. Carlton sought the following: [1] All documents and other records relating to City of Greenfield, Massachusetts’ approval to bring claims against [17 identified organizations] . . . in the national opioid litigation . . . and its members cases (the “Opioid Litigation”)[;] [2] All documents and other records relating to City of Greenfield, Massachusetts’ approval to file any complaint in the Opioid Litigation[;] [3] All documents and other records relating to City of Greenfield, Massachusetts’ approval to amend or supplement its complaint in the Opioid Litigation[;] [4] All engagement agreements, engagement letters, memoranda of understanding, memoranda of agreement, letters of intent, contracts, or other agreements (including any amendments, restatements, or modifications to such agreements) that City of Greenfield, Massachusetts’ entered into with any law firms, attorneys, or other professionals (including, but not limited to [two identified individuals] . . . ) to prosecute or assist with the prosecution of the Opioid Litigation or claims against any party or entity[;] [5] All documents authorizing any individual to act outside of a public hearing to authorize, approve, or consent to the City of Greenfield, Massachusetts’ filing or amending any lawsuit and all documents identifying any individuals with that authority. Quinn Jaquins SPR25/0683 Page 2 March 18, 2025 Current Petition In its March 12, 2025 petition, the City seeks an extension of “until April 11, 2025” to produce records. Subsequent to the opening of this petition, I learned that Ms. Carlton agreed to the City’s request for additional time. In an undated message submitted by Ms. Carlton to the City through its Public Records Portal, a copy of which was forwarded to this office on March 17, 2025, she states, “I am happy to consent to an extension to Friday, April 11.” Conclusion In light of the above, it is unnecessary to opine on the City’s petition seeking an extension of time to produce records.
