The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records April 15, 2025 SPR25/0912 Meredith Roselli Office Administrator Bridgewater Police Department 220 Pleasant Street Bridgewater, MA 02324 Dear Ms. Roselli: I have received the petition of Griffin Polinsky, of the Committee for Public Counsel Services, Strategic Litigation Unit (CPCS), appealing the response of the Bridgewater Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On February 25, 2025, Mr. Polinsky requested: [1] A list of all civil suits, excluding those relating to firearms license appeals, filed since January 1, 2015, against Bridgewater Police Department or an employee thereof, for actions or omissions committed in the course of employment, containing the following information: a. Case caption b. Docket number c. Final disposition (settled, dismissed, verdict, guilty, etc.) d. Amount of money, if any, paid by the city or involved officer pursuant to a verdict or settlement. [2] A list of officers who have been criminally prosecuted since January 1, 2015, containing the officer’s full name and case docket number. [3] Any settlement agreements since January 1, 2015, relating to cases against Bridgewater Police Department or an employee thereof, for actions or omissions committed in the course of employment. [4] Any document, ledger, report, list, or dockets, which summarizes civil lawsuits and/or criminal prosecutions against the Bridgewater Police Department or thereof. Unsatisfied with the response, Mr. Polinsky petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR25/0912, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department responded to Mr. Polinsky’s request with a further response on April 14, 2025. Where this appeal was opened based on the Department’s March 21st response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. If unresolved issues remain, Mr. Polinsky may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s April 14th response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
