The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records May 15, 2025 SPR25/1212 Ann Marie Carpenter Director of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion Pittsfield Public Schools 269 First Street Pittsfield, MA 01201 Dear Ms. Carpenter: I have received the petition of Tammy Ives appealing the response of the Pittsfield Public Schools (School) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On April 1, 2025, Ms. Ives requested, “any and all information pertaining to the investigation that happened at Pittsfield High School including a copy of the report from the third party that did the investigation . . . .” The School responded on April 9, 2025. Unsatisfied with the School’s response, Ms. Ives appealed, and this case, SPR25/1212, was opened as a result. It is my understanding that the subject matter of this request and the issues raised in Ms. Ives’ appeal are similar to those addressed in SPR25/1209 Determination of the Supervisor of Records (May 14, 2025). In my May 14th determination, the School was ordered to provide this office with un-redacted copies of the responsive records for in camera inspection. In light of this order, I decline to provide a determination as to the public status of the requested records at this time pending an in camera inspection of the records. The School is ordered to provide a copy of the responsive records for an in camera inspection without delay. Sincerely, Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records cc: Tammy Ives One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832 • Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
