The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records July 22, 2025 SPR25/2013 Sean Zrate Police Lieutenant Lunenburg Police Department 655 Massachusetts Avenue Lunenburg, MA 01462 Dear Lieutenant Zrate: I have received the petition of George and Jen Burden appealing the response of the Lunenburg Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). From June 7, 2025 through July 1, 2025, Mr. and Ms. Burden submitted nine requests, including, among others, for “all police reports and logs” of 17 named individuals, internal affairs reports based on complaints they submitted, videos of interviews, procedures, records of complaints, call recordings, and body camera footage. Previous Petition This request has been the subject of a previous petition from the Office. See SPR25/1908 Determination of the Supervisor of Records (July 1, 2025). In my July 1st determination, I found that the Department had established good cause for an extension of 30 business days. However, I was unable to grant the Department’s request for relief from the obligation to provide records. Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. & Ms. Burden petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR25/2013, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Town provided a response to Mr. & Ms. Burden on July 16, 2025. Accordingly, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. & Ms. Burden may appeal the substantive nature of the Town’s July 16th response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
