Box 1025 – 1 State Road Stow, MA 01775 Dear Attorney Rooney: I have received the petition of Charlie McKenna, of MassLive, appealing the response of the Department of Fire Services (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66 § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On July 17, 2025, Mr. McKenna requested, “[r]eports of all fires at Gabriel House at 261 Oliver St, Fall River, MA 02724 from 7/1/2015 to 7/16/2025.” The Department provided a response on July 24, 2025. Unsatisfied with the Department’s response, Mr. McKenna petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR25/2179, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department provided a supplemental response to Mr. McKenna on July 28, 2025. Where the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the Department’s July 24, 2025 response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. McKenna may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s July 28th response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
