The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records August 1, 2025 SPR25/2181; SPR25/2182 Glenn M. Rooney, Esq. General Counsel Department of Fire Services P. O. Box 1025 – 1 State Road Stow, MA 01775 Dear Attorney Rooney: I have received the petition of Jenny Barron, of WCVB-TV Channel 5, appealing the response of the Department of Fire Services (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66 § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). SPR25/2181 On July 15, 2025, Ms. Barron requested, “...any and all inspectional services inspections and reports related to Gabriel House at 261 Oliver Street in Fall River.” SPR25/2182 On July 17, 2025, Ms. Barron requested, “... any and all reports on inspections and testing of the fire alarm and sprinkler systems at Gabriel House in Fall River. This includes reports from private contractors hired to test those systems prior to fire department inspections.” The Department provided a response on July 24, 2025 for both requests. Unsatisfied with the Department’s response, Ms. Barron petitioned this office and these appeals, SPR25/2181 and SPR25/2182, were opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department provided a supplemental response to Ms. Barron on August 1, 2025. Where these appeals were opened as a result of the Department’s July 24th response, I will now consider these administrative appeals closed. Ms. Barron may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s August 1st response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
