General Counsel Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office 6000 Sheriff’s Place Bourne, MA 02532 Dear Attorney Halpin: I have received the petition of Hadley Barndollar, of MassLive, appealing the response of the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office (Office) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On September 8, 2025, Ms. Barndollar requested “[a]ny records dated Jan. 1, 2022 to present day about deaths of inmates in custody, including but not limited to incident reports and causes of death.” The Office responded on October 17, 2025. Unsatisfied with the Office’s response, Ms. Barndollar petitioned this office, and this appeal, SPR25/3116, was opened as a result. Subsequent to the opening of this appeal, in an email to this office and the Office on November 5, 2025, Ms. Barndollar states, “… the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office and I have resolved this appeal separately. You can consider this matter closed.” In light of Ms. Barndollar’s November 5th email, I will now consider this appeal closed.
