Kato Town Clerk Town of Wellesley 525 Washington Street, First Floor Wellesley, MA 02482 Dear Ms. Kato: On January 28, 2026, this office received your petition on behalf of the Town of Wellesley (Town) seeking permission to charge for time spent segregating or redacting responsive records. G. L. c. 66, § 10(c); G. L. c. 66, § 10(d)(iv); see also 950 C.M.R. 32.06(4). As required by law, I understand that the Town furnished a copy of this petition to the requestor, Celeste Hedequist. G. L. c. 66, § 10(c); G. L. c. 66, § 10(d)(iv)(2). On January 13, 2026, Ms. Hedequist requested the following: All emails, correspondence, memoranda, and similar written communications that were either sent by, or received by, the following [list of five named individuals,] where the other party to the communication was either [two named individuals] for the time period December 1, 2016 through May 31, 2017. In an email to the Town and this office on January 29, 2026, Ms. Hedequist states “I’ll drop a check off today. I appreciate the work on … this and am happy to pay the town for it.” In light of the above, I find it is unnecessary to opine on the Town’s petition to assess fees.
