Assistant Corporation Counsel Boston Police Department 1 City Hall Square, Room Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney O’Donnell: I have received the petition of Ren Aoki appealing the nonresponse of the Boston Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On March 13, 2026, Mr. Aoki requested, “[b]ody-worn camera footage from officers involved in or responding to the officer-involved shooting in Linwood Square following a reported carjacking on Tremont St. Additionally, I also request Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) logs, radio dispatch records, and incident reports associated with this incident[.]” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Aoki petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR26/1231, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department provided Mr. Aoki with a response on April 3, 2026. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the Department’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Aoki may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
