Assistant Corporation Counsel Office of the Legal Advisor Boston Police Department 1 Schroeder Plaza Boston, MA 02120 Dear Attorney O’Donnell: I have received the petition of Jem Manolios-Cassotis appealing the nonresponse of the Boston Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On March 26, 2026, Mx. Manolios-Cassotis requested the following: [1] A comprehensive list of all current officers and employees within the Internal Affairs Division (IAD) in the Boston Police Department, including their names, titles, and annual earnings over the entire duration of their time with the IAD[.] [2] [A]ll publicly available materials regarding misconduct allegations against any individuals employed within the IAD over the past decade, regardless of whether finding have been sustained and regardless of the individual’s role within the Boston Police Department at the time of [an identified incident][.] Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mx. Manolios-Cassotis petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR26/1306, was opened as a result. Despite being notified of the opening of this appeal, it remains unclear whether the Department has provided a response. Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide Mx. Manolios-Cassotis with a response to the request, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within ten (10) business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of the response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mx. Manolios-Cassotis may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
