The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Manza Arthur Supervisor of Records April 29, 2026 SPR26/1544 Eric Hoberg, Esq. Records Access Officer Office of the Chief Medical Examiner 720 Albany Street Boston, MA 02118 Dear Attorney Hoberg: I have received the petition of Jonathan Gerhardson appealing the nonresponse of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (Office) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On April 9, 2026, Mr. Gerhardson requested from July through October 2025, “[a]ny report of investigation and cause/manner of death determination relating to [an identified individual][.]” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Gerhardson petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR26/1544, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Office provided Mr. Gerhardson with a response on April 28, 2026. Where this appeal was opened as a result of the Office’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Gerhardson may appeal the substantive nature of the Office’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
